Intimacy@ I believe all people yearn for this, even the people who (by various addictions: work, schooling, empty sex, religion, the overwhelming noise of life) have blocked out that passion from long ago – the Romance that says true love exists. I know this to be true because since I started that book of love letters over five years ago, there have been two whole years where I never lifted a pen. I had suppressed that voice that told me there was something MORE just because everything in my physical realm told me what I had was IT – no payoff – nothing deeper, just work maintaining the relationships I had. Yet that whole time I suppressed the voice, I could still hear the muffled words. John Eldredge, in his book "The Sacred Romance" puts it this way, "We long for intimacy because we were made in the image of perfect intimacy (God). Still, what we don’t have and may never have known is often a more powerful reminder of what ought to be." There will be times when all of us, no matter how "good" our lives are nor how intimate or relationship with our mate is, will come to that place where we feel like there HAS to be more. I do not have the cure, but I know the One that does. The great news is that He has been looking for you, too. I’m not talking just of a God who saves – I am not even just talking of a God who loves – I am talking about the God who intimately loves YOU. He is real. He is living. Do you want to know him? How do you find him? I know there were times in my life where I have felt so alone and like all my searching was fruitless. I have more good news for you: God is looking for you! Simone Tugwell said, "So long as we imagine that it is we who have to look for God, we must often lose heart. But it is the other way about; He is looking for us." How long has He been looking for you? Ephesians chapter one says, "Long before he laid down earth’s foundations, he had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of his love, to be made whole and holy by his love." (The Message) If this is true, why hasn’t he already "found" you so that you feel this intimate love? John 3:16 says, "God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son so that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life." Belief. Faith. Faith is coming to the edge of the unknown and pressing forward; knowing you’ll either be given something solid to stand upon, or you’ll be taught to fly. For five years I wrote letters to my future husband knowing full well that it might come down to a day when Jesus Christ would be the only man to read them – I did this with confidence because God is the true lover of my soul. He is the reason and originator of every good thing I do. He is my love. He is the love I share with you through this ministry I call my business. Friend, let today be the day you receive your first love letter from the God who invented love. Press forward, He’s been waiting for you.
